Jukebox! (The link goes to the DW comm post with a link to both the collection and to a playlist of all the songs, which I found very helpful.)

There are only a couple of hours until reveal. Until then, I would like to say that one of the great charms of Jukebox is that it's a lot of the same people doing it every year (and that I've interacted with somewhat in other exchanges, most notably Yuletide), and I really love and respect the writing of so many of these people. So I'm going to put down some guesses, while it's (barely) still anonymous!

First, my INCREDIBLY AWESOME GIFT:

Green Teeth (7615 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: My Brother My Enemy - Sassafrass Singers
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings, Major Character Death
Additional Tags: Sibling Relationship, Sisters, rural unpleasantness, outsider pov, Uncanny Valley, implied background noncon?, Period-Typical Sexism, Classism, exceptionally vague echoes of Norse mythology
Summary:

The Loksmer Sisters save a world, then let it drown.

If this is not [archiveofourown.org profile] Selden I will... be incredibly surprised. The lush and lovely description, the perfect execution of ramping up the Gothic tension and horror and the plot fitting together, the effortless weaving in of motifs and lyrics... yeah.

The Last Year-King (5238 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Kings - The Pierces (Music Video)
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Characters: Original Female Character(s)
Additional Tags: Ritual Combat, Post-Apocalypse
Summary:

Every year, a young woman goes up the mountain to challenge the Year-King for the bone crown. Every year, one of them dies and the other comes down the mountain as King. It is unusual for a Year-King to survive more than one such battle.

Lussa has survived and won three times. But her fourth battle, her third defending the crown, brings her a choice that she never thought she would face.

I have a very strong idea that this is [livejournal.com profile] lignota. Here it's the amazingly beautiful fantasy cadences of the writing, and the wonderful worldbuilding and seemingly-effortless seamless and satisfying plotting, that remind me of her writing :)

An Excerpt From The Gospel Of (1177 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: The Hymn of Acxiom - Vienna Teng (Song)
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Original Female Character(s), We (The Hymn of Acxiom)
Additional Tags: Artificial Intelligence, Fictional Religion & Theology

And then this one is really great in the way it effortlessly switches between Biblical cadences and business terminology, and has some awesomely bad puns, which make me think it might be [personal profile] seekingferret, though admittedly I'm not quite as sure about that one.

Parade Day (3255 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Sunny Came Home - Shawn Colvin (Song)
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Sunny
Additional Tags: Children, Domestic Violence, Revenge, Arson, Murder Ballad
Summary:

Sunny had errands to run before she came home.

I don't actually know who wrote this, but I want to know. My best guess is [personal profile] morbane, because it fits together so very well, with all the details coming together as we learn the whole story, but I also wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't her.

I could be wrong about all of these, because there are a ton of wonderful writers who do Jukebox! Very worth checking out :) I felt like there were a bunch of very strong stories this year.

(I think mine is less guessable than average, this year, since I wrote something a little less like what I normally write for Jukebox, although I'd be super interested to see if anyone did guess.)

Well, 2/4 isn't bad. :) I didn't meddle with that match, but I was pleased to see Selden was assigned to write to you. I figured you'd both have fun. (Also, thank you for the compliments! I haven't yet read Parade Day, but the author, morganya, wrote me a very nice treat a couple of Yuletides ago.)
