*grin* Yes, I did know that :) And for what it's worth, I think Hugo would say something very similar -- I'd be shocked if he believed in super-orthodox Catholic hell/purgatory/heaven. (The AO3 freeform tags, which I should probably put on this copy as well, include "I don't think Hugo's theology exactly includes a hell" and "with Javert it might not much matter" :) )

Poor Javert -- he's already in hell, by virtue of rejecting it, even though everyone else calls it heaven... :) Maybe he will think better of it eventually? Maybe?
