what is wrong with me?
I thought my not_primetime fic was going to be, you know, 1000-3000 words. Maybe 4000, pushing it.
Then I decided to go with the more complicated prompt, because without doing so I couldn't figure out how to make the simple prompt to work, and... 19k and counting (although nearly done). AUGH!

Yeah, my worry about my poor beta(s) (I think I'm going to have two for this one, because I feel bad sticking one person with 20k... so... I'll stick two people with it, wait I guess that makes no sense, does it?) was part of what drove me to finish it so soon. (I've done the 45k-beta-in-six-days-while-finishing-my-own-fic thing, thank goodness work was nonexistent that week, and while it seems to have gone okay I did kind of wish I'd had more time to mull over it :) )

Though honestly, it would be more wonderful if I had more TIME (I know it's not_primetime's first year, and I don't want to be too critical, but I do wish that one of the things they hadn't lifted from yuletide was the short writing time... 1.5 months is NOT ENOUGH for me). As it is I feel like there's no way I can put the polish on it I want to, and there are whole subplots I had to cut. Oh well :)

However, I'm still in the stage with my NPT that I feel like I have soooo much time, I wouldn't want to get on it too early. (This may be my fatal flaw in life.) I sort of want to do the big complicated prompt, in the fandom I know less well, because it's so obviously the fandom that my recipient spends the most time in. Please feel free to chime in--early and often--about how NICE it is to get out of your main fandom once in a while and try new things!

But I can also say, it's nice to try new things! :)
