OUAT 2x1 "Broken"

So I think I'm going to start posting these here, because I think everyone on my f-list who watches this show is following this journal.
Okay, I ended up being very pleased by this episode, not least because I nailed quite a lot of the character interaction, especially Gold (heh, I love how everyone's saying "Gold" because it's too much of a mouthful to say "Rumpelstiltskin) and Charming and Emma-Snow-stress (though I completely failed at predicting the source, but hey, AU), and they even brought back the "best chance" line and obviously I was full of glee about that. I swear, I can't sit still through the Fairyland parts ever, though.
I loved the Snow-Charming-Emma reunion scene (although part of my brain was all "uh, wow, Emma and Henry apparently ran really really fast from the hospital, either that or everyone else is moving very slowly) and how Snow and Charming are all totally happy and Emma is all "I am NOT HAPPY about this." I did not call the "Hey, you abandoned me" at ALL, and I was very pleased that they engaged with that, because even though I didn't realize that explicitly, yeah, she's screwed. She understands they had to, but she does not feel at all happy about it.
Interestingly, I was really quite impressed by Charming's acting and not so much by Snow's. Snow still seems very MM-like to me, whereas there's such a sharp break between Charming and David that it's really noticeable. I think a large part of this is probably due to how Snow-MM bled into one another quite a bit more last season because of Emma's presence/friendship, and how it's still bleeding because of Emma's presence (I expect) and not because of the acting itself, which I was impressed by last season.
Also just Charming got a lot of great scenes here in general. The comic relief when Regina releases him, HEE. Also there's that tiny moment where he and Rumpel are looking at each other consideringly in the shop. LOVE. I just love Charming-Rumpel together, they've always been brilliant (did anyone else notice that Rumpel was totally wearing Charming's cloak in the finale?) -- more please! (Interestingly, when I think of David-Gold scenes, they are all pretty meh, only good when you think of them in the context of Charming-Rumpel. Much like David himself.)
And, hmm. So i was really looking forward to the Rumpel/Belle scenes, particularly after the trailers, but they all seemed... horribly stilted and awkward. This is clearly at least partially intentional, given the lingering on Carlyle's face after he promises he won't kill Regina ("oh crap, what did I just agree to, and at least she didn't get me to promise no slow torture") and the part where he totally lies to Belle about getting her clothes and gets the wraith (Hi dementors!) instead (this show continues to be MADE OF AWESOME in the way it makes no bones about slapping me with a codfish at any point I might find myself falling for Carlyle's charm, hee).
Also, "You have to leave because I'm still a monster." "Don't you see, that's exactly why I have to stay" -- I yelled at the screen, "WHAT?" I... am going to assume that what she meant by that is "Okay, the fact that you actually did tell me I have to leave is, like, a tiny tiny step up and I want to cultivate that" as opposed to the more obvious interpretation of "I have to stay TO SAVE YOU FROM YOURSELF" because UM NO. I mean, in my interpretation, still UM NO (grrrr do I have to write fic where Belle does leave and tells Gold to look her up later? Oh, wait, I already wrote that one) in that case too, but very slightly better.
Also, is he actually sorry like he told Belle? I guess I'm willing to believe that. Oh man, look at me falling for Carlyle's charm even as I type. I fully expect a wet codfish at the beginning of next week's episode, and shall be disappointed if I don't get it.
That being said, Carlyle-and-Parilla scenes are still The Most Amazing Things out there.
Lana Parilla: for some reason I always forget how much I love her. And then she just totally steals every freaking scene she's in. Just her face when Snow and Charming are all "yeah, we have to put her in jail" is just. JUST. And the expressions her face goes through with Charming and Henry and... AH. Lana Parilla FTW.
Henry-Regina still manages to be incoherent and all over the place (and Henry still not a good actor when he has to carry the weight of a scene) but at least they gave a nod to, y'know, Regina being his mom and all. Emma-Regina moments MADE OF WIN (I reeeeally love those two actresses playing off each other), and I am sad that with Emma and MM being elsewhere we're not going to get more of them. However maybe we'll get more Gold-Regina, which would be just as good.
ETA: It just tickles me how on this show it's the men eyecandy who are kicking the bucket and all about the womanpain. HEE. Love it!
